While Michael was at work I went to see the Acropolis again, the quintissential masterpiece of Athens. It's over 3,000 years old, but is still (mostly) standing, a tribute to the architectural excellence of the time. It actually was in quite better shape until the 1600s when it got bombed extensively. Even so, it's breathtaking every time. It is perpetually under reconstruction, with new marble being used to supplement the old marble for pieces that have been lost over time.

Approach to the Acropolis after you come out of the metro.

An ancient theatre at the foot of the Acropolis that is still used for performances.
