Food in France

It's well known that the French take their food very seriously, but they especially take the presentation very seriously, and it shows everywhere you go. Here are just a few pics of the great food I've had here and the amazing colorful displays found in the markets everywhere. (And for the most part, everything tastes as good as it looks). My favorite food that I can't get in the US is the crepes. There are salty crepes called gallettes that are filled with ham, cheese, egg, mushrooms, onions, etc. and sweet crepes filled with chocolate, butter, sugar, nutella, bananas, jam, etc. They are a real treat, and if I had the money or space to buy a crepe machine (and the inclination to get good at it) I wouldn't think twice.

TYPICAL BREAKFAST

Cafe au lait on left (for the weak) and cafe noir on right (for the strong). I usually also eat a piece of fruit from my house on the way to school and then buy a croissant during our morning break. The produce here is amazing, all locally grown, fresh, and juicy. The pears and peaches especially have been some of the best I've ever tasted.

TYPICAL LUNCHES

Yum! This has been my favorite sandwich so far. Prosciutto, goat cheese, and lettuce. Quiches with different fillings, usually ham, cheese, bacon, etc.

Thin crust pizza.

GALETTES (crepes with salty stuff)

wheat crepe with fancy ham, egg, and swiss cheese.

Gregor had the same thing.crepe with goat cheese and walnuts, with honey drizzled on the outside.

CREPES (with sweet stuff)
Nutella and coconut icecream.

Chocolate sauce and whipped cream.

PATISSERIES (Nutella inside a baguette, and then it gets panini-grilled. Tried it once. Wasn't all that great.)
